Second Annual New Product & Technology Awards™ to Recognize Innovative Products and Services for Older Adults and Their Families

The Mature Market Resource Center™ announces the Call for Entries for its 2010 New Product & Technology Awards™, an awards program that recognizes the world’s best technologies, products and services for older adults and their families. The entry deadline is August 13, 2010.

This year’s competition features more than 20 entry categories, including internet and computer technologies; monitoring/detection devices; prevention/health maintenance products and services; housing and design; safety products; fitness/recreation/hobbies and more. A complete list of categories together with entry details can be found

at the official awards program website: agingawards.com.

For 19 years, the Mature Market Resource Center, organizer of the New Product & Technology Awards, has managed the National Mature Media Awards™ (seniorawards.com), the largest awards program of its kind recognizing the nation’s best educational and marketing materials for older adults.

In 2010, nearly 1,000 entries were submitted from

hundreds of national, state and local organizations. The New Product & Technology Awards was developed as a companion program to recognize the growing number of innovative products, services and technologies available in the aging services field.

In 2009 — the first year of the awards program — more than 25 companies and organizations were recognized for their innovative products and services. Winners included Cognifit for its brain fitness software; Delphi Digital for its Vital Information Manager; HealthCare Interactive for its online training programs; the Minnesota Board of Aging for its website; NavGate Technologies for its CareOptions online; the National Institute on Aging for its online programs; Presto Services for the HP Printing Mailbox and its mail service; and Vidatak for its patient communication board.

The 2010 National Sponsors include the American Association of Homes and Services for the Aging (AAHSA) and its Center for Aging Services Technologies (CAST); George Mason University’s Program in Senior Housing Administration and American Custom Publishing Corporation.

This fall, the New Product & Technology Awards program will introduce a student awards competition to recognize innovative product/service/technology concepts and prototypes from undergraduate and graduate students in academic fields of study related to the fast-growing aging population — engineering, robotics, architecture and design, computer technologies, health/medical fields, gerontology, social services, etc. Please visit the agingawards.com website this

summer for further details on this new student competition.

The Mature Market Resource Center (MMRC) is a national information clearinghouse for professionals who work with older adults. In addition to the New Product & Technology Awards and the National Mature Media Awards, the MMRC organizes National Senior Health & Fitness Day® (fitnessday.com), the nation’s largest older adult health promotion

event. The MMRC also publishes reference materials and information resources about the older adult market.
