Learning Is Ageless at ConnectedLiving University

QUINCY, Mass., June 10, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- ConnectedLiving today announced the launch of ConnectedLiving University to continue its mission to transform the experience of aging. Built on the belief that learning is ageless, there are over 20,000 seniors across the country currently enrolled in ConnectedLiving University who are actively online in senior living communities and public housing across 28 states.

ConnectedLiving University programming centers on the five realms of a living a connected life – purposeful, social, spiritual, intellectual, and wellness. "We are helping seniors across the country to have purposeful experiences that focus on what really matters to them," said Sarah Hoit, CEO and co-founder of ConnectedLiving. "The programming promotes brain health and connects generations of family members. We're seeing a higher quality of life in seniors who are connected- it's a wonderful thing."

The award-winning ConnectedLiving Network, from which University programming is accessed, is a secure, cloud-based social network tailored for seniors. The platform includes an easy-to-navigate interface providing secure access to the Internet, email, photos, a library, games, and social media tools such as video chat. Family can also access University content that they can use to prepare for visits with higher acuity family members, including conversation starters and ways to improve reminiscing.

In addition to online learning and program content for seniors, ConnectedLiving University provides extensive training for senior living community staff, utilizing ConnectedLiving's unique "connections" methodology. The training, which is a combination of on-site and remote, gives staff the easy-to-use tools to deliver exceptional, unique and engaging programs to residents. ConnectedLiving University curriculum was developed with a rich understanding of the needs of older adults and their caregivers. The programming is easy to deliver and integrate into existing life-enrichment programs. The University also certifies its own ConnectedLiving Ambassadors who go through a rigorous certification process to meet the standards of ConnectedLiving program delivery and engagement. They are then deployed on site at senior living communities for 5-10 hours/week.

"The goal is to get seniors engaged and connecting to the people and the experiences that are important to them, regardless of physical distance," says Anna Hall, VP of ConnectedLiving University. "For many seniors, distance was seen as an impenetrable barrier, but with technology and the training that accompanies it, no distance is too great. ConnectedLiving University brings all parties together to transform the experience of aging."
