Numera announces launch of patient engagement platform for ResMed

SEATTLE, WA, June 18, 2013 – Numera, providing customizable solutions for companies interested in improving their offerings for healthy aging, chronic condition management, and post-acute care announced its collaboration with ResMed on its patient engagement platform called SleepSeeker, a free online tool to improve patient compliance with therapy for sleep-disordered breathing.  ResMed is a global leader in sleep and respiratory medicine.

“One of the critical issues in managing patients with sleep-disordered breathing is keeping them engaged with their prescribed treatment plan,” said Jeremy Malecha, ResMed Director for Healthcare Informatics and Diagnostics, Americas.  “We chose Numera’s Social platform because it enabled ResMed to rapidly deploy a fully branded, intuitive, user-friendly tool to motivate device users. We believe SleepSeeker will accelerate patients’ involvement in their own therapy and connection to others with similar therapy needs.”

Numera Social is a customizable platform that enables companies to drive patient engagement and lasting behavior change for individuals managing health conditions. The platform brings together action plans and information from health measurement devices, enabling people to upload readings, track progress on key aspects of their conditions, set goals and action plans, and share updates with friends and family.

“We’re excited to be part of the innovation behind ResMed’s patient engagement platform,” said Numera CEO, Tim Smokoff. “Use of Numera Social is an example of the trend toward convergence of patient-centric devices and technology that enable individuals to play an increasingly active role in their own self-management. Together with their extended care teams, including family, friends and peer groups, individuals can achieve lasting behavior change,“ he noted.

Numera’s FDA-cleared telehealth+telecare platform is a core component of the ResMed solution. ResMed’s air flow generator devices expand Numera’s connectivity library that already includes glucose meters, pulse oximeters, weight scales, activity monitors and blood pressure monitors. Numera Social and other products, including Numera Libris and Numera Home Hub, can be partner-branded and customized as key components of Numera partners’ mHealth strategies.
