SEATTLE, September 22, 2026. Porchlight today announced that Porchlight, a life-story and family-connection tool for assisted living and memory care communities, is live and free for communities during its pilot period.
A resident taps one large button on a tablet, hears a question about their life read aloud, and talks. Porchlight transcribes what they say, chooses the next question from what was just said, and turns the conversation into three things a building could not produce by hand: a Know Your Resident briefing so a new aide can connect on their first shift, a morning digest of story highlights for the activity director, and a private page where the resident's family can listen and record a reply in their own voice.
There is no app store and no resident password. Staff add a resident by first name and print a QR card; that is the whole setup. Sessions can be any length on any day, and the question track never repeats. Nothing is shared with a family member the community has not invited.
"Person-centered care rests on one thing nobody has time for, which is knowing sixty residents as people," said Patrick Donahue, founder of Porchlight. "A caregiver on a first shift knows a room number and a care plan. Porchlight lets the resident do the talking on their own time, and everyone else gets the benefit."
Porchlight is not a medical device or a clinical instrument and does not replace staff. It is a conversation and enrichment tool. Family access is free. Paid plans for communities are a single monthly figure sized to census, agreed before any billing. Porchlight is independent, founder-built and has no outside funding.
A sample community is open to anyone with no login at https://app.porchlight.ing/demo. Screenshots and facts for reporters are at https://porchlight.ing/press/.
