USPTO Awards UpRight Science the Registered Trademark for BALANCE: THE SIXTH VITAL SIGN

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – UpRight Science today announced that the United
States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) has registered BALANCE: THE SIXTH
VITAL SIGN®, marking a milestone in the company’s work to bring greater
awareness to balance as an essential measure of health.

“Blood pressure and other vital signs are useful because we establish a
baseline and keep measuring. That gives physicians a way to recognize changes
and address problems before they become life-threatening,” said Sanjeev
Sharma, MD, Chief Medical Officer of UpRight Science. “Balance makes sense
as the sixth vital sign for the same reason. When we know a patient’s
baseline and can follow their balance over time, we have objective
information to help evaluate a decline and monitor recovery. We should be
building that history before the first fall brings a patient into the
office.”

UpRight Science’s FDA-cleared clinical software uses sensors built into
smartphones to measure balance objectively and track changes over time. The
technology enables clinicians to establish patient baselines and monitor
balance beyond visits to the clinic or doctor’s office.

The company also offers StayUpRight!, a free mobile app that lets people
check and follow their balance using a smartphone. As a non-prescription
version of the same technology that powers the clinical software of UpRight
Science, the free app helps users become more familiar with their balance and
encourages informed conversations with healthcare professionals.

“This is more than a trademark. It represents an investment in giving
balance the awareness and attention it deserves,” said Terry Chabrowe, CEO
of UpRight Science. “We want balance at the forefront of discussions
between patients and their doctors, with people asking about it and
physicians routinely measuring it quantitatively. Establishing BALANCE: THE
SIXTH VITAL SIGN® as a recognizable message helps us advance that
conversation and encourage people to take an active role in protecting their
health and independence.”

Balance provides information about how multiple systems in the body are
functioning together, including the nervous system and the muscles that
support movement. Changes can develop gradually and may go unnoticed until a
person experiences instability or a fall. UpRight Science believes routine
measurement can give physicians and patients a clearer view of those changes
and help inform earlier assessment and intervention.

The registration follows a recent announcement from UpRight Science about a
multidisciplinary advisory board supporting its mission to establish balance
as an essential health measure. Together, these efforts reflect the
company’s commitment to making balance easier to understand and
incorporating its measurement into routine care.

About UpRight Science

UpRight Science is a medical technology company working to advance BALANCE:
THE SIXTH VITAL SIGN®. Its FDA-cleared software brings balance assessment to
smartphones through Software as a Medical Device (SaMD). Using
smartphone-based biomechanics, the technology enables objective measurement
and ongoing monitoring of balance, helping clinicians follow patients between
office visits.

The company’s free consumer app, StayUpRight!, makes a non-prescription
version of this technology available for everyday balance tracking.
StayUpRight! is intended for general wellness and is not a medical device.
Anyone with concerns about their balance should speak with a physician.
