Independa Launches Tablet Based Independent Living Monitoring System

October 24th, 2010

Independa, a startup technology company based in San Diego, California, recently launched its integrated elder care monitoring system for home use.  The service, sold as a monthly subscription service, is anchored by an upcoming Android-based wireless tablet computer, named "Angela" interfaces with wireless home and health sensors in the care receiver’s home.   The system communicates with a touch screen tablet interface that communicates with a variety of wireless sensors while providing an online reporting system for external monitoring from caregivers and family members.  The tablet is also designed to provide reminders and and emergency alerts  similar to other personal emergency response systems.

"Today there are 46 million family caregivers in America, 600 million worldwide, with numbers about to explode thanks to aging baby boomers. It’s time we leverage advances in wireless technology and the Internet to give family caregivers previously unavailable capabilities and peace of mind at compelling price points," said Independa CEO, Kian Saneii.

As part of the company’s debut in September at the DEMO conference in Silicon Valley, it announced that it completed its second round of venture funding and is actively seeking further investment to ramp up sales.  The privately held company is recruiting beta testers for its solution.
