Admiral Robert O. Wray, Jr. Launches The Blue Star Veterans Network to Provide Veterans Stability to Age in Comfort of Own Home

BETHESDA, MD--(Marketwired - June 11, 2014) - Retired Rear Admiral Robert O. Wray, Jr., who served as a nuclear engineer on service ships, announced today the launch of The Blue Star Veterans Network, a technology-enabled service to help older veterans live safe, healthy and independent lives in their own homes. Blue Star's unique patent-pending service suite integrates multiple technologies including wearables, in a simple manner that makes sense to the six million American veterans over the age of 70 years old.

The Blue Star Veterans Network has also launched an Indiegogo crowdfunding campaign (https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/the-blue-star-veterans-network-keeping-our-heroes-safe-healthy-independent) in order to raise funds for the continued development of the integrated service suite.

The Blue Star Veterans Network will integrate hardware, software, processes and a human monitoring/assistance team to help vets and their families live free and independently. The signature product, The Blue Star Service Watch, is one of the many available services that will be offered. The watch is an attractive everyday item that provides help to veterans in need by automatically calling a 24 hour/7 day-a-week monitoring center. The monitoring center will provide whatever assistance is required -- from calling a family member to reaching out to 911 for medical emergency.

The official company motto is: "By Vets, For Vets" -- as The Blue Star Veterans Network is owned by veterans, services veterans and employs veterans. In addition, they have implemented a "20% Giveback" program that donates profits to veterans, particularly homeless veterans.

"As a proud member of the Naval Academy and product of a family who has multiple generations of veterans who have served our country including my own dad and father-in-law, I feel it is our duty to provide this service," stated Rear Admiral Robert O. Wray, Jr., a two-star nuclear-trained admiral who inspected ships, submarines and carriers, while reporting to Congress on their status. "More then anything else, aging veterans want independence at home; we believe Blue Star can help give it to them."

Dr. Ron Poropatich, recently retired Army Colonel and Chief Medical Advisor to the Blue Star Network, explained, "Through my 30 years of military telehealth experience, it's crystal-clear to me that there is a void in the marketplace for technology to help our aging veterans. Working with the Blue Star team, I look forward to plugging that hole."
