CloseBy Network announces the availablity of the new Card Access Smart Pressure Sensor

CLOSEBY NETWORK ANNOUNCES NEXT-GENERATION SMART SENSOR FOR CAREGIVING SOLUTION

The Card Access Smart Pressure Sensor offers greater accuracy for remote monitoring on chairs and beds throughout a loved one’s home.

Salt Lake City, UT—May 26, 2010—CloseBy Network, a subsidiary of Card Access, Inc., announces the availability of the new Card Access Smart Pressure Sensor. A replacement for the current Bed and Chair Sensor, the Smart Pressure Sensor is an easy-to-use occupancy sensing solution for chairs, beds, and sofas. Providing better performance through increased sensitivity, the next-generation Smart Pressure Sensor returns fewer false positives, making event notification more accurate and useful for caregivers.

The sensor works by measuring a change in applied pressure when a chair, a bed, or a sofa is occupied. Proprietary “learning” technology allows caregivers to fine-tune the response of the sensor to suit a wide range of furniture and occupants – with just the push of a button.

By using this technology, the sensor delivers superior control and flexibility when compared to other similar sensors on the market, which are not adjustable and are only reliable in limited applications. Adding the Smart Pressure Sensor to the CloseBy Network’s remote monitoring for caregiving solution creates additional monitoring options for caregivers.

“With the Smart Pressure Sensor, caregivers can have a powerful tool that allows them to monitor daily activity unobtrusively, a valuable resource when a family is helping loved ones remain in their home,” said Kent Hansen, Card Access CEO. “This sensor makes customizing the CloseBy Network that much more valuable and useful to caregivers.”

The Smart Pressure Sensor must be used in conjunction with a Card Access Wireless Contact Sensor (WCS10A), which can be powered with batteries or via 9-24V AC/DC external power. Two sensors are now shipping with the CloseBy Network Basic Package.
