Eleventh Annual EHX Wraps Up With New In-Home Technology

ELEVENTH ANNUAL EHX WRAPS UP WITH NEW IN-HOME TECHNOLOGY, EDUCATION AND TRAINING FOR INDUSTRY PROFESSIONALS

Arlington, Va., March 31, 2010 – The Electronic House Expo (EHX) 2010 concluded Saturday, March 27, drawing nearly 3,500 industry professionals to education sessions and a display of the latest custom electronics products. The eleventh annual EHX, produced by EH Events and sponsored by the Consumer Electronics Association’s (CEA®) TechHome Division, ran March 25-27 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida.

More than 125 home technology companies, including nearly 20 Florida-based exhibitors, participated in the event. Manufacturers and distributors of home health technology, smart energy, commercial, digital media and custom electronics were all featured.

During the CEA TechHome Division Breakfast CEA’s Shawn DuBravac, chief economist, and Steve Koenig, director of industry analysis,  presented the 8th Annual State of the Builder Technology Market Study, and focused on the importance of installer and builder relationships. The need for builders and home appraisers to acknowledge the value of in-home electronics was discussed at length. Participants brainstormed ways that the installer community could raise appraisal values for home technology, and ideas for how to overcome builders concerns over technology. The resounding answer was that installers need to get in on the ground level with builders, establish relationships before construction, and join sales meetings.

Attendees were also able to take advantage of the CE Pro Super Sessions at EHX. Successful business models, emerging technologies, new applications, lead generation strategies, target profit margins and tips for success were all discussed. Veteran integrators shared their first hand experience during the Dealer-to-Dealer Panel Sessions throughout the duration of the show. Demo Alley was once again a vibrant area and favorite amongst attendees as exhibitors demonstrated their latest audio and video technologies. The manufacturer training sessions allowed attendees to interact directly with manufacturers to discuss new product releases, specific product training, technical training, trouble shooting and sales and marketing tips.

EHX’s 2011 dates are: EHX@CES at the 2011 International CES, January 6-9 in Las Vegas, Nevada, and EHX Spring 2011, March 17-19, 2011 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida.
