Essence Introduces First Ever Self-learning Eldercare Solution to Facilitate Senior Independence

Essence, the leading connected-home solution provider, has launched Care@HomeTM – a game-changing M2M cloud-based in-home care solution for the elderly and chronic disease sufferers. The company, which already offers comprehensive connected home and home security solutions, focuses on solutions that enable service providers to offer their customers the comfort to age at home independently with peace of mind for themselves and their loved ones.

During successful pilots in a number of markets around the world, Essence’s Care@HomeTM solution has proven its ability to detect early warning signals for changes in health conditions, enabling prevention and proactive care for early intervention.

“In one case, the system detected reduced activity levels for an elderly man, necessitating intervention,” said Dr. Haim Amir, CEO of Essence. “After his family took him to see a physician, who diagnosed a minor cardiac incident, he was placed on appropriate medication and returned home. Without the early notification, his condition would have quickly deteriorated.”

Essence reduces service providers’ ongoing costs by enabling more efficient personnel management as well as a unique and affordable solution that appeals to older adults and their family members.

Laurie Orlov, a tech industry veteran, elder care advocate, and founder of Aging in Place Technology Watch, states, “Service providers should differentiate themselves in ways that better serve families, providing them with customized offerings like Care@HomeTM.”

The Care@HomeTM solution consists of a control panel, a set of wireless, easy-to-install devices, and mobile and web apps -- all backed by a unique smart algorithm, an analytics engine, and cloud technology. The system continuously learns a person’s everyday routine, creates a personal pattern and detects any deviations, such as skipped meals, reduced activity or unusual events. The system automatically sends alerts based on severity level to the healthcare provider and family members through intuitive apps, allowing them to act immediately. Safety events like fire and water leakage are monitored as well, adding another layer of protection.

“We are committed to providing solutions that are easy for consumers to use and for service providers to deploy,” concluded Dr. Amir. “People prefer to age at home independently, living on their terms; now they can do it with the peace of mind Essence’s Smart Care affords them and their families.”
