WellAWARE recognized with RichTech Technology Innovation: Healthcare Award

Richmond, VA, May 17, 2011 -WellAWARE Systems, the developer of breakthrough technology designed to enable proactive and preventive senior care, announced it was recognized with the Technology Innovation: Healthcare Award given by RichTech.

The RichTech Technology Innovation: Healthcare Award is given to the company or organization whose use of existing, new or emerging technology creates significantly new processes, methodologies and/or services for the benefit of themselves or others in the healthcare vertical.

"Coming off a strong 2010, we have seen the technology economy flourish not only with traditional IT companies, but also the more creative side as mobility and social media take root in both the consumer and business markets," said Margaret E. "Lyn" McDermid, Senior Vice President of Information Technology and Chief Information Officer at Dominion and RichTech Chair.  "The organizations and individuals that we have recognized this evening each understand the value of technology in our community."

WellAWARE's advanced "smart sensor" solution supports wellness by providing insightful information about an individual's physiological data (i.e. sleep quality, bathroom visits, activity levels and more).  By utilizing this information and proactively responding to trends that may indicate emerging health conditions, clinicians and caregivers can significantly improve health related outcomes.

"We are honored to receive the RichTech Technology Innovation: Healthcare Award and even more so to be recognized by our peers," said, Jeff Noce, CEO of WellAWARE Systems.  "We are excited to help advance the technology-based economy by focusing on promoting safety, wellness and independence for seniors.  This award helps to further validate that we are continuing to create a new standard of care for seniors, whether they live in their home or in a senior living facility."
