Wellaware systems recognized for positive impact

Richmond, VA, May 24, 2011 -WellAWARE Systems, the developer of breakthrough technology designed to enable proactive and preventive senior care, announced it was recognized with the 2011 Smart Choice Award presented by the 50+ Housing Council, a special interest council of the Building Industry Association of Southern California (BIA/SC).

The Smart Choice Award recognizes companies with innovative solutions offering smart choices for people as they age and for businesses supplying products and services to the 50+ housing industry. To qualify for the award, products and services must be innovative, green, sustainable, energy efficient, environmentally friendly and/or related to Universal Design.

"Our 50+ Smart Choice Awards program focuses on products that enrich the daily lives of seniors," said Brian Dawson, a member of the 50+ Housing Council and partner with Irwin Partners Architects. "WellAWARE Systems was a clear choice by the judges to be one of our top ten winners."

WellAWARE's advanced "smart sensor" solution supports caregivers by providing insightful, actionable data about wellness and overall health (i.e. sleep quality, bathroom visits, activity levels and more).  By proactively responding to data trends that may indicate emerging health conditions, caregivers can significantly improve health related outcomes and reduce costs associated with emergency room visits and hospital admissions.

"It is an honor to be recognized by the 50+ Housing Council," said, Jeff Noce, CEO of WellAWARE Systems.  "Every day our primary focus is to promote safety, wellness and independence for seniors.  This award is further validation that we are continuing to realize a new standard of care for seniors, whether they live in their home or in a senior living facility."
