Care Angel Poised to Revolutionize the Way We Care for Aging Loved Ones
Miami, FL (March 18, 2015) – Wolf Shlagman, noted telemedicine entrepreneur and the founder of Consult a Doctor, today announced the formation of his latest venture, Care Angel, a startup in stealth mode focused on revolutionizing and simplifying the way we care for our aging loved ones.
Care Angel plans to tackle the caregiving challenges brought on by the current “Senior Tsunami” in the United States, triggered by 50 million seniors in need of support in order to age in place. Today, 39 percent of adults currently care for an aging loved one for more than 20 hours per week. As the number of seniors drastically rises, the caregiver support ratio will decline from seven-to-one to three-to-one.
“The U.S. is approaching a caregiving crisis as life expectancy has increased an average of 20 years. Moreover, today’s senior population will more than double to 120 million in the next two decades and yet the number of caregivers will remain stagnant,” said Wolf Shlagman, founder and CEO, Care Angel. “New innovations and technologies are needed to solve this impending care shortage, and Care Angel looks to lead the charge by providing a smart, sensible solution for caregivers and their families.”
The company’s technology, currently in beta, seeks to streamline the caregiving process. Care Angel’s technology allows family members – many of whom are already stretched thin when it comes to time and resources – to remotely monitor their aging loved ones through an easy-to-use platform. The technology also empowers seniors who wish to age in place by independently providing daily updates on their overall health and wellness to their families.
Utilizing its proprietary care analytics dashboard, Care Angel collects and analyzes care metadata in real-time from aging-in-place seniors and privately reports it to their families and friends who are connected to the platform. The remote monitoring technology allows multiple family members and loved ones to stay connected and informed, streamlining the caring process across multiple caregivers.
“The caregiving technology market needs new ideas and support tools to help ensure that aging loved ones are adhering to healthy routines, reducing incidents by better managing day-to-day activity,” said Laurie Orlov, founder of Aging in Place Technology Watch. “These tools are needed to help families gain peace of mind across generations: caregivers knowing their loved ones are being monitored, and seniors knowing they have the remote support and physical independence needed to make the most of their later years.”
Care Angel plans to launch its mobile platform later this year. For more information and an exclusive beta invitation, visit Care Angel’s website.
