FROM DOCTORS TO DOG-SITTERS, SOUTH FLORIDA SENIORS AND THEIR LOVED ONES FIND IT ALL WITH SENIORITY MATTERS

Miami-based Web Resource Takes Community Approach to Connecting

Residents With Fully Vetted Health and Lifestyle Service Providers

MIAMI, Sept. 20, 2010 — Finding reliable, trustworthy help just got a lot easier for South Florida seniors and their families. New online resource Seniority Matters (www.senioritymatters.com) connects seniors living in Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties to a network of highly qualified, pre-screened, local service providers.

Detailed information about providers of medical, lifestyle and concierge services is accessible via the comprehensive and searchable Seniority Matters directory. For those who lack the time or inclination to do their own research, Seniority Matters also offers private consultation services to help clients identify the best options for their needs. This approach can be especially helpful to family caregivers who don’t live nearby but want to play a key role in improving their loved ones’ quality of life.

Users may choose between free membership (which offers limited access to the directory and other site features) and standard membership, an “all-access pass” to SeniorityMatters.com resources, for $45 per year.

“Our goal is to make life easier for seniors,” says Nancy Stein, founder of Seniority Matters.  “While the information on our website can be particularly helpful in times of a health emergency, we believe our neighbors will see that it’s also about good living.  We offer a quick and easy way to find just the help you need, whether it’s a pet walker, someone to pay the bills, or in-home companion care.”

Unlike national caregiving registries that aggregate information from public directories, Seniority Matters takes a local – and more personal – approach to connecting residents of South Florida with businesses in or near their own neighborhoods.

“We’ve created a community of ‘five-star’ service-oriented businesses that share our goal of delivering the best possible services to seniors,” Stein explains.  “Inclusion in the Seniority Matters directory is our seal of approval -- members can rely on it when choosing a service.  Our providers, in turn, know that a call from one of our members is a query from a qualified customer.”

“Using Seniority Matters to find help for my mother in Boca Raton saved me hours of research and reference-checking,” reports Sharon S., of New City, N.Y. The directory’s information about each service provider answered all the questions that I would have asked – if I’d had the time to be so thorough. Most importantly, my mother is happy with all the providers. I can breathe easier knowing she’s well taken care of.”

“Seniority Matters is a great support system to south Florida businesses that participate in their directory,” said Mary Ellen Humphreys, Florida Seniors Bookkeeping Services in Boca Raton.  “It’s an effective way to get qualified leads from seniors and their care givers. I’m glad to be part of a highly qualified business referral network.”

Seniority Matters also connects seniors to all local south Florida universities and organizations such as Jewish Community Services, which offer critical services and programs that seniors can participate in.

The site’s Living Room section, meanwhile, enables members and their caregivers to share recommendations and advice; read about interesting and accomplished members of the community; hear from local experts on health and fitness; form groups of like-minded members; and learn about great deals for living well in South Florida.

ABOUT SENIORITY MATTERS

Seniority Matters (www.senioritymatters.com) was founded by Nancy Strickman Stein PhD, MPH, a 20-year resident of Miami who has been an active healthcare professional and advocate for more than 25 years.  As a participant in her own parents’ caregiving, she has learned the importance of facilitating the kinds of connections that seniors depend on to lead independent and socially-engaged lives for as long as possible.
