HERO, A Smart Home Appliance For You and Your Loved Ones

(NEW YORK)—HERO, a Brooklyn-based health technology company, debuts the HERO smart appliance, the world’s first household companion for managing vitamins and medicines. HERO is now available for pre-order at an early bird price of $399 at herohealth.com. HERO is built in Brooklyn and expected to ship in early Summer 2016.

HERO is a smart countertop appliance that lives in your home, manages your family’s pills, and provides you with actionable insights to keep everyone on track. It stores up to 10 different pills, dispenses them on schedule or on demand, and monitors consumption. HERO enables users to care for themselves and their families by making health management seamless and simple.

“Rising costs and an increasingly complicated system have clouded the simplicity of healthcare's goal: to help people live longer, healthier lives,” says Kut Akdogan, co-founder of HERO. “We created HERO to make it easier and more intuitive to care for ourselves and our loved ones. The user’s experience and well-being is our first priority.”

The HERO mobile app allows users to receive reminder notifications when it’s time take a pill, and offers caregivers peace-of-mind by alerting them when a dose is missed. The HERO app provides real-time medication information and actionable data to help users stay on track. The app is now available on iOS and Android.

“Medication non-adherence in the United States currently costs over $300 billion dollars annually,” says Kal Vepuri, co-founder of HERO. “HERO transforms an extremely convoluted method of pill consumption and management into a simple, accessible and personal experience that’s also enjoyable for the patient or caregiver.”

Pre-orders for HERO begin today at an early bird special of $399 USD. Special pricing includes the HERO smart appliance and a free 3 month trial of HERO’s enhanced online portal. Additional units will be made available at the anticipated retail price of $999 USD. HERO ships in early Summer 2016.
