MobileHelp® Introduces New M-PERS Automatic Fall Detection Technology and Cellular Base Station at International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas

BOCA RATON, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--MobileHelp®, a leader in innovative M-PERS or Mobile-Personal Emergency Response System technology, is unveiling two new products —myHalo® wearable  Auto Fall Detect Pendant and a Cellular Base Station — to its emergency monitoring service portfolio at CES Show Booth: 26922 at the Las Vegas Convention Center ,  International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, Nevada from January 8th through the 11th.  The new products are designed for the growing senior population and to enhance senior well-being beyond the home. The myHalo Auto Fall Detect Pendant is designed to alert a central monitoring station by transmitting a wireless message indicating a fall without the user having to push a button and is compatible with MobileHelp’s Mobile Personal Emergency Response System. This product, along with a new Cellular Base Station, which allows customers with no landline phone in their home to have access to a medical alert system, are the latest in the company’s mission to provide seniors and caregivers with added freedom and peace of mind.

MyHalo is a lightweight, waterproof pendant with auto fall detect that will trigger an emergency call on a MobileHelp mobile device or home base station in the event of a fall.  The user wears a comfortable, waterproof device which contains tiny sensors capable of measuring user orientation and three-dimensional motion. If the user falls and is incapacitated, immobilized or unconscious, the pendant will detect the sudden fall and send a signal to MobileHelp’s emergency response center. Even if the user cannot speak, the operator will be able to dispatch help.

“Seniors who fall can’t always reach a panic button, but this new feature means they don’t have to; we foresee this innovative technology resulting in a greater likelihood of saving lives,” said Chris Otto, Vice President of Product Development.

The company’s second new product offering is the MobileHelp Cellular Base Station. Operating on AT&T’s nationwide cellular network, the cellular base station is redefining the caregiving and medical alarm industry with the easiest to install system on the market.  Simply plug in the power cord and it provides the flexibility of a wireless device with the convenience and capability of a PERS system. A single press of the button immediately sends an alarm to a 24-hour staffed emergency call center where an operator will have instant access to the user’s basic medical history and emergency contacts. The Cellular Base Station will work as an integrated system with MobileHelp’s pendant and wrist button, as well as the new myHalo Auto Fall Detect Pendant.  This will be the first medical alert system with fall detection available to users with no landline phone.

“The myHalo pendant and Cellular Base Station are designed to give our clients extra protection and freedom and their caregivers even more peace of mind,” said Robert Flippo, MobileHelp  President and CEO.

More than one-third of seniors will fall in a given year —that’s 12 million in the US alone. In fact, according to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, falls account for 70 percent of accidental deaths in the elderly population.  Over 40 percent of these falls occur outside of the home, which emphasizes the importance of having a wireless personal emergency response system.

A recent National Institute of Health study found that 67 percent of elderly who fall and do not receive assistance in 72 hours, will not survive. In stark contrast, the study says if help arrives within an hour of a fall, seniors are six times more likely to survive.

The myHalo Auto Fall Detect Pendant and Cellular Base Station enhance the already vast array of products and services MobileHelp has to offer clients who seek an independent senior lifestyle. The MobileHelp system includes a wireless device, a portable charging cradle, and choice of a waterproof neck pendant or wrist button which may be worn at all times.  Also incorporated in the system are MobileHelp’s exclusive Caregiver Tools.  These online tracking tools enable caregivers to locate the user anytime online using a computer or smartphone.
