Expanding the concept of 'care'
Nicely put. And more broadly, we're seeing an expansion of the concept of care from purely medical / safety & security to a holistic, person-centric approach, taking account of family communication and connection, meaning, purpose and joy. This is as relevant for home care as well as well residential. The leaders in the space are already there, and others will indeed need to innovate or fall behind.
Communication is lagging behind customer need
Great blog today.
I agree, communication in senior living is lagging way behind customer need. Part of the reason is they are only now getting wifi across their campuses. While most homes have wifi or can get it quickly if needed.
Many hired caregivers spend free time on their phone or tablet and could easily send updates to family members if they were given a platform that facilitates this effort. Home care companies are missing an opportunity to add value to their high cost services.

Another company that offers this technology today
Another company that offers the type of technology that fits this is situation is CellTrak, the company I'm at. The CellTrak Care Team Portal can be used by the entire care team, including family and guardians if they are given position. CellTrak's software is used by home and community care agencies of all types to do approximately 1 million in-home visits every week.
